Improve Lambing Results with StockMins-EweLamLac Lambing Supplement

Poor survival of newborn lambs is the most significant source of lost productivity in sheep production systems. Scanning results of 110 to 140% can quickly result in marking percentages of 80 to 90%. Most of these losses occur in the first three days of lambing and can be largely avoided by managing ewe nutrition during pregnancy.

The most stressful and physically taxing time for a ewe is during the 70-day period from late pregnancy (4 weeks pre-lambing) until early lactation (6 weeks post-lambing). As lambs throughout this period get almost 100% of their nutrition from the ewe, this sees the nutritional requirements of that ewe grow significantly in order to support a healthy lamb.

Essential mineral, vitamin and trace element requirements grow exponentially throughout this period. Providing ewes with a balanced supplement of minerals, vitamins and trace elements like StockMins-EweLamLac cannot only correct mineral deficiencies and associated diseases, but also optimise bodily function and increase feed conversion efficiency.

StockMins-EweLamLac is a complete lambing supplement providing ewes with increased levels of essential minerals, vitamins and trace elements to satisfy elevated requirements from late-pregnancy (4 weeks pre-lambing) to early-lactation (6 weeks post-lambing). EweLamLac is designed to help reduce pregnancy toxaemia and stress related diseases during this crucial production period by replenishing depleted stores of essential minerals, vitamins and trace elements brought about during pregnancy and milk production.

Trial results show that not all supplements are equal
A recent independent trial involving single bearing ewes showed that ewes supplemented with StockMins-EweLamLac HE (StockMins-EweLamLac with the inclusion of extra energy), performed significantly better than ewes supplemented with Causmag®, lime and salt throughout the lambing period. The key indicators measured were:
• Improved weaning percentage (3.3% greater)
• Higher lamb weaning weights (6.1kg heavier)
• Greater weight retention in ewes (4.8kg heavier at weaning)
